Update 9:00 p.m. CST

There have been lots of visitors to the hospital. One good friend brought Lydia a special back to school Mister Potato Head complete with backpack and school books. Lydia has great nurses. One nurse said, "Lydia is the sweetest patient. You can tell when a child has been raised right!" She even mouthed thank you around a tube that was in her mouth. Lydia looks great. She is tired though. John and I were in her room talking and she told us "Good Night" to let us know it was time for us to leave. We hope to get more updates on Lydia tomorrow regarding when she will be in a room, how long she will need to stay, when physical therapy begins, etc. This was a holiday weekend so that is why we probably haven't heard much. Note: Lydia was wearing a seat belt though it was only a lap belt but it did save her life.

Hi John and Audrey - We are so pleased to hear Lydia is doing better. Marion called yesterday and told us she was in bad shape but no details...got the blog info tonight from him...it is truly amazing that Lydia is doing so well...sounds like she is healing quickly...we had a friend here go through a similar experience last March...got a call that their son had been hit by a car and was at the trauma center 2 hours away...would not give them any details...except that he was alive and the trauma team was with him...but he was back at school within a month...Young people are so resilient it is truly amazing... here's hoping Lydia heals quickly and the remainder of your summer (and life) is free of any more accidents.. you have had more than your share this summer....you are in our prayers....love you guys, Nancy and Chris

Audrey,
Thanks for sharing the wonderful news on Lydia! Katie has figured out how to bring the blog page up and I have found her twice today reading comments and updates! (She must have had a WONDERFUL kindergarten teacher!) She feels like she knows Lydia and has been so concerned for her, as we all have.
We will continue to check on y'all daily. I pray that tomorrow will continue to bring good news. God is so good!

Wow, what a crazy summer!
Audrey and John- I do not even know what to say! I just cannot imagine what y'all are going through this month but stay strong and know that I am thinking of you.

I am also thankful that she is at a great hospital- that is where Christy was born and had surgery that saved her life when she was little so I KNOW that Lydia is in good hands.

Lydia-
I should tell you to be patient and give yourself plenty of time to heal but I don't think that is you so fight, fight, fight and get well soon!
Stay strong, keep up the good attitude, and know that you are a part of one of the biggest and best collection of loving, caring, and devoted individuals that we are all lucky and blessed enough to call family. You have a lot of people pulling for you.

With love from your cousin,
J.

Lydia and Audrey,

You and your family are in my prayers. I am so sorry to hear about this accident.

I KNOW you will make a quick recovery because there is nothing that you give up on, girl!

Lydia, you are such a precious person in every way. My heart is just broken that this would happen to such a sweet, young lady such as yourself. I know that God will allow this to be an "opportuntiy" for you to use this accident to minister to someone in a special way.

Take care!!!
Lots of love and God bless!

My precious Lyd,

You have reaffirmed my belief in miracles and the power of prayer! You are a special person who has much life to live and many lives to touch and impact. You have a great purpose on this earth and in the years I have known you and lived with you, you have made me a better person.

You are a fighter! It was so good to see your beautiful face and that smile yesterday. You have so many people praying and thinking about you. I love you Lyd!

Mr. and Mrs. Jost--You are the strongest people I know! You are in my thoughts and prayers constantly along with Jonathan, Jeremy and Ginny! I love your family!

Love,
Hollon

Audrey and John,

Y'all have really been through a LOT lately. Our hearts go out to each of you. We know what strong people you are and that the Lord won't put more on you than you can bear. I'm sure you're wondering if that's really true, but you know it is. It sounds like Lydia is making great progress towards recovery. Y'all have been in our prayers constantly and will continue to be as the long road to total recovery begins. Tell Lydia we're praying for her, and tell Ginny we haven't forgotten her either!

Let us know how the other girls are doing.

Love ya,

Tamie and Damon

Hi Lydia,

I'm a second years corps member in Memphis, and I just heard about the accident. While I was terribly worried by the e-mail informing of your situation, I'm seriously glad to hear you're recovering.

My thoughts and prayers are with you, as are those of many second year corps members.

With anticipation,

I just couldn't believe the news when I heard it this morning, but praise God Lydia is alive. What a shock after what you've already been through this summer. But God is in control and He has your whole family in His powerful hands. I am praying for you during this trying time. You are a strong person and, in those moments when you don't feel strong, we're here for you to hold you up and pray for you through this trial. Please let me know if I can do anything at all for you.
Love and prayers,

You know this, I'm sure.
I wrote you a letter before I left, so hopefully Jared found a waz to get it to you somehow. I included a beautiful get well wall hanging that I made mzself! So look forward to that.

Reilly wanted you to know that "you are the number one teacher" and he knows that you have " the best smile" on your face right now(something about how you and him have the same smile whenever you take pictures....he mentioned this as we were praying for Lydia the other night). LOL- The Burtons
